The South Pointe Stallions entered their tilt with the Rock Hill Bearcats with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. South Pointe walked away with a 56-48 victory over Rock Hill on Friday. That's another feather in the cap for South Pointe, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Leading South Pointe to victory were JaNyia Cunningham and Serenity Woods. Cunningham dropped a double-double on 19 points and 18 rebounds, while Woods scored 22 points. Cunningham also posted two+ blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Jacinda Orr, who scored six points along with seven assists.
When it comes to explaining why Rock Hill lost, one person who can't be blamed is De?Ashaj Crawford. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Crawford scored a full 45.8% of Rock Hill's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Chloe Hudson was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
South Pointe has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Rock Hill, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. South Pointe will be home for the holidays to greet Blythewood at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Blythewood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 91st, while South Pointe is ranked 11th). Rock Hill will be home for the holidays to greet Varsity Opponent at 12:00 p.m. on Friday.
