Even though the Woodland Regional Hawks have not done well against the Kennedy Eagles recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Woodland Regional walked away with a 61-50 win over Kennedy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Woodland Regional.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Woodland Regional to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dean Accetura, who scored 30 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Accetura continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Ethan Stepputtis, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and six assists.
Kennedy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrance Morrison, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Morrison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Sheehan, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Kennedy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodland Regional only pulled down five offensive rebounds.
Woodland Regional's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Kennedy, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodland Regional will take on Kaynor Tech at TBD on Monday. As for Kennedy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Crosby at 7:00 p.m. Crosby has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 918 points over their last 12 contests.
