The Dodge County Indians had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.3 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 69-57 win over Fitzgerald. Given Dodge County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while Fitzgerald is ranked 324th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Dodge County to victory were Jaedon Mcclendon and Keontez Champion. Mcclendon scored 19 points, while Champion scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Champion has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyler Johnson, who scored nine points.
Dodge County pushed their record up to 9-1 with that win, which was their third straight on the road. As for Fitzgerald, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-9.
Dodge County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Sumter County at 7:00 p.m. on January 13th. Sumter County has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 1-2 during that stretch of close contests. As for Fitzgerald, Fitzgerald and Irwin County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Irwin County has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12.
