Union has gone a perfect 9-0 against Pine View recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cougars will take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Union has five straight wins, Pine View has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Union is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Clearfield, who was ranked tenth at the time (Union was ranked fifth). The Cougars walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Falcons on Saturday. Five seems to be a good number for the Cougars as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Kinsley Tibbetts looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Union let Charlee Kesler and Payzlei Parrish run wild. Kesler went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Parrish went 1-for-3 with one home run. That's the most RBI Kesler has posted since back in March of 2025. Peyton Barney also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Union hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clearfield struck out eight times.
Meanwhile, Pine View lost 15-4 to Snow Canyon on Wednesday.
Pine View saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kylie Carpenter, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Sarah Seegmiller was another, going 2-for-4 with two doubles.
Union's record is now 5-0. As for Pine View, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Pine View's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Union has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Pine View, though, as they've been averaging 11 hits. Given Union's sizable advantage in that area, the Panthers will need to find a way to close that gap.
Union got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March of 2025 against Pine View by a conclusive 19-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
