The Eastern Greene Thunderbirds won the last time they faced the Shakamak Lakers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Eastern Greene secured a 52-46 W over Shakamak.
Eastern Greene got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keylee Hudson out in front who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds. Hudson has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times she's played. Mallorie Elliott was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Shakamak lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Elayni Stone, who scored nine points along with five assists and five steals. Another player making a difference was Emma Herrador-Gonzalez, who scored ten points.
Eastern Greene's win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-8. As for Shakamak, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastern Greene will take on Bloomington South at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Bloomington South is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Shakamak, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Oblong/Hutsonville/Palestine will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 592nd in Illinois, while Shakamak is ranked 177th in Indiana).
