Softball Recap: Saint James Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Saint James came tearing into Friday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-1 margin over the Reeltown Rebels. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 matches by six runs or more this season.

Aleigha Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Saint James got a massive performance out of Emily Darby, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI Darby has posted since back in March. Lily Stanford also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Saint James was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .467. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive contests.

Saint James' record is now 39-6. As for Reeltown, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

The future could be bright for both Saint James and Reeltown: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Trojans will try to hand Handley their sixth-straight defeat when the two meet at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Reeltown will look to extend Elmore County's three-game losing streak when they meet at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday.
