Arbor View has gone a perfect 10-0 against Faith Lutheran recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Aggies will look to defend their home field against the Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Arbor View has four straight wins, Faith Lutheran has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Arbor View is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Bishop Gorman, who was ranked 12th at the time (Arbor View was ranked tenth). The Aggies sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 victory over the Gaels on Monday. Seven seems to be a good number for the Aggies as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Arbor View let Malaya Tellis and Madilyn Lowy run wild. Tellis scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Lowy scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Lowy has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Breya Hee, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Arbor View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Faith Lutheran's offense. They came up short against Green Valley on Monday, falling 16-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Crusaders were not able to get on the board.
Faith Lutheran saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mia Walsh, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
Arbor View pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Faith Lutheran, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Faith Lutheran's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Arbor View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Faith Lutheran, though, as they've been averaging 10.9 hits. Given Arbor View's sizable advantage in that area, the Crusaders will need to find a way to close that gap.
Arbor View took their victory against Faith Lutheran in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 21-1 score. Will the Aggies repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
