Marshall is 2-8 against Taft since March of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Rams will be playing at home against the Raiders at 5:00 p.m. Marshall is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Marshall earned a 13-10 win over Stevens. The victory continues a trend for the Rams in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.
Lexi Gonzalez made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Marshall got a massive performance out of Madeline Puente, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Puente has posted since back in March of 2025. Another player making a difference was Kaitlyn Bermea, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Marshall kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.
Meanwhile, Taft fell victim to O'Connor and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Panthers, falling 10-0. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Raiders, who until this game were averaging 3.95 runs allowed.
Marshall's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Taft, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 14-6.
Taft's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Marshall has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. It's a different story for Taft, though, as they've only averaged .355.
