Baseball Recap: Elverado Takes a Loss

Elverado had lost five straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-12 to make it six. They came up short against the Pinckneyville Panthers, falling 19-3. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 15-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

As for Pinckneyville, the victory got them back to even at 10-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Pinckneyville's part, Abel Clark and Dylan Keller made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Clark pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Keller pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At bat, Clark went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI, while Keller went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double. That's the most runs Clark has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Pinckneyville got a massive performance out of Brayden Cleland, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs Cleland has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Henry Ruppert, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Elverado wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 15-0 defeat against Vienna on the 28th. As for Pinckneyville, they have also already played their next game, a 12-2 loss against Nashville on the 24th.
