Basketball Recap: Make It Six in a Row for Fort Chiswell

Fort Chiswell extended their winning streak to six games thanks to a huge performance from Owen Jackson. The Fort Chiswell Pioneers secured a 74-69 W over the Grayson County Blue Devils on Friday thanks in part to Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 11 rebounds. His evening made it 13 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Billings, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 12 boards. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played.

Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ben Hill, who went 9 of 16 en route to 24 points. Mac Goad was another key player, going 6 for 13 on his way to 16 points and five assists.

Fort Chiswell has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Grayson County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Fort Chiswell didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 84-63 win against Richlands on the 25th. As for Grayson County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 57-50 loss against Alleghany on the 27th.
