Independence have had a week off and are no doubt ready to get back on the field. On Friday they take on Carlin at 2:00 PM. If the game is anything like the 44-50 finish from the last time they met, the scorekeeper will be kept real busy.
There's no need to mince words: Independence lost to Pahranagat Valley three weeks ago, and they lost bad. The score wound up at 20-72. Independence were in a tough position by the half, with the score sitting at 0-52.
Meanwhile, when you finish with 204 more yards than your opponent, a favorable outcome is sure to follow. Carlin were fully in charge last week, breezing past Owyhee 48-6. The success made it back-to-back wins for Carlin.
Carlin's win lifted them to 3-1 while Independence's loss dropped them down to 0-2. In their win, Carlin relied heavily on senior Eddie Gomez, who picked up 85 yards on the ground and caught passes for 86 yards. Independence will need to find a way to minimize his impact if they want to win.
