The Gulf Pointe Latin Gladiators can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They managed a 42-37 win over Santa Rosa Christian. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Gulf Pointe Latin also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Ava Matthews had a dynamite game for Gulf Pointe Latin, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Matthews has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Coral Hamer, who scored seven points along with 15 rebounds and three blocks.
Gulf Pointe Latin's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Santa Rosa Christian, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-10.
Gulf Pointe Latin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on February 2nd. The timing is sure in Aletheia Christian Academy's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while the Gladiators have been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. Santa Rosa Christian will take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
