Starpoint and Hamburg are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Spartans will head out to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Starpoint will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Starpoint is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Amherst Central 15-3 on Tuesday. The Spartans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by seven runs or more this season.

Starpoint let Matalyn Adamo and Jordan Duncan run wild. Adamo got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Duncan went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Duncan has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Madison Remillard, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 18 runs the game before, Hamburg was a bit more limited in their contest on Wednesday. They fell just short of Williamsville East by a score of 4-2.
Mackayla Musty and Emma Holst stepped up to the plate in a big way. Musty went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Holst went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double.
Starpoint's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Hamburg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-8 record this season.
Hamburg's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Starpoint has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. It's a different story for Hamburg, though, as they've been averaging 9.4 hits. Given Starpoint's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Starpoint skirted past Hamburg 5-3 in their previous matchup two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Spartans since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
