Freedom Christian Academy's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Village Christian Academy. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 games by seven runs or more this season.
Wilson Stowers made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Christian Alleman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Trent Oliver was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Freedom Christian Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Village Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Hickory Christian Academy walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 5-4.
Like Freedom Christian Academy, Hickory Christian Academy also got a great game from a two-way player: Jude Carter. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Carter posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Carter wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Davis Morgan, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Freedom Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Hickory Christian Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-4.
Both Freedom Christian Academy and Hickory Christian Academy just can't seem to miss. The Patriots have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Hickory Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits.
