The Harvey Hornets will challenge the Carrington Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Harvey lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Wilton/Wing, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Hornets blew past the Miners 11-4 on Tuesday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hornets considering their one-run performance the contest before.
Meanwhile, Carrington got the win against Larimore on Thursday by a conclusive 12-2. The victory continues a trend for the Cardinals in their matchups with the Polar Bears: they've now won four in a row.
Calleigh Hewitt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. Hewitt was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maara Kutz, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Aubrey Neis was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Carrington was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .353 or higher in three consecutive games.
Harvey's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-4. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Carrington, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Harvey suffered a grim 12-3 defeat to Carrington in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Hornets have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
