Basketball Recap: Orono Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Orono and Benilde-St. Margaret squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Orono had to settle for second. They lost 74-53 to the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Spartans have suffered since February 22, 2024.

Despite the loss, Orono still got an impressive performance from Mya Moore, who posted 21 points and three steals. The contest was Moore's 26th in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Maryn Prenevost, who went 5-for-12 en route to 14 points.

Orono's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-4. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32 points. As for Benilde-St. Margaret's, they are on a roll lately: they've won 16 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-6 record this season.
