The Middle Creek Mustangs will hit the road for the first time this season to square off against the Willow Spring Storm at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Middle Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.

Middle Creek is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Green Hope just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Falcons by a score of 6-5. The loss was the Mustangs' first of the season.

Will Tobin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He also put up a hit, which was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Willow Spring was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 12-1 to Cardinal Gibbons.

Willow Spring also got a good showing from Chadburn Turner, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Willow Spring saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bryce Marsh, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Willow Spring's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Middle Creek, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Middle Creek's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. Middle Creek has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Willow Spring, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Middle Creek continue to outrun the ball?

Everything went Middle Creek's way against Willow Spring when the teams last played back in February of 2022, as Middle Creek made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middle Creek since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
