The Bedford North Lawrence Stars and the Center Grove Trojans will face off at 1:00 p.m. on February 10th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Bedford North Lawrence sitting on six straight wins and Center Grove on 18.
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Bedford North Lawrence walked away with it. They secured a 43-39 W over the Panthers on Saturday.
Madisyn Bailey was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Chloe Spreen was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Center Grove gave their fans yet another huge win on Saturday. They put the hurt on Mooresville with a sharp 61-41 win. Given Center Grove's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while Mooresville is ranked 27th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Center Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Grant out in front who scored 17 points along with five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Bischoff, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Bedford North Lawrence's victory bumped their record up to 20-4. As for Center Grove, their win bumped their record up to 25-1.
Saturday's match is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Bedford North Lawrence haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 8.8 turnovers per game. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 9.2 turnovers per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
