The Fairmont Heights Hornets waltzed into their game Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 72-42 victory over College Park Academy on the road. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 45-16.
Fairmont Heights' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Amari Brice-Johnson, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Brice-Johnson has scored at least 25% of Fairmont Heights' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zion McQueen, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds.
Fairmont Heights' victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for College Park Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Fairmont Heights will be home for the holidays to greet Central at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. College Park Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Friendly at 12:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
