The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Peoria as Sunrise Mountain made off with a 78-53 victory. With Sunrise Mountain ahead 42-21 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Sunrise Mountain found their leader in underclassman Marcus Murray, who scored 15 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jason Higgins, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Nehemiah Ward and Desmone Brooks-conley certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Ward scored 12 points, while Brooks-conley scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Those 12 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Marcus Jackson, who scored ten points.
The victory got Sunrise Mountain back to even at 6-6. As for Peoria, they have fallen quite a ways from their 28-5 record last season and are now at 1-8.
Sunrise Mountain and Meridian will round out the year against one another at 4:30 p.m. on December 28th at. Meridian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matchups -- so hopefully Sunrise Mountain likes a good challenge. Peoria's road trip will continue as they head out to face Stansbury at 6:00 p.m. on December 28th.
