The Perry Pumas are taking a road trip to take on the Mountain View Toros at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games Perry has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Perry fell victim to Queen Creek and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pumas have suffered since February 28th.
Meanwhile, Mountain View had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.2 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Tuesday. They never let the Jackrabbits get on the board and left with a 22-0 win. The Toros might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Keelie Goodman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Goodman was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to hits, as she's now got three or more in each of the last three games she's played.
In other batting news, Kylynn Sylvester was a standout: she fired off two home runs, four runs, and five RBI while going 3-for-3. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Hadlie Goodman, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Mountain View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .737. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
With the defeat, Perry broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-8. As for Mountain View, their record now sits at 14-7.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Perry has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Mountain View struggles in that department as they've averaged .481. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Perry couldn't quite finish off Mountain View in their previous matchup back in February and fell 2-0. Can the Pumas avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
