It was a good run, but the Batesville Bulldogs unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell to Connersville 50-46. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Batesville came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while Connersville is ranked 303rd).
Batesville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cade Kaiser, who scored nine points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Grunkemeyer, who scored four points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Batesville's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-4. As for Connersville, their victory bumped their record up to 4-12.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Batesville will play host again and welcome North Decatur, where tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Decatur focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday. As for Connersville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Mt. Vernon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
