It was a good run, but the Vienna Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Saturday. The matchup between Vienna and Massac County wasn't particularly close, with Vienna falling 77-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Owen Treat, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds and six assists. Treat is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last ten games he's played. Another player making a difference was Hunter Webb, who scored 15 points along with two blocks.
Massac County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Harmon out in front who scored 22 points. Isaac Hosman was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Vienna's loss dropped their record down to 17-6. As for Massac County, they pushed their record up to 15-5 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vienna will take on Christopher at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Christopher will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Vienna is ranked 176th). As for Massac County, Massac County and Murphysboro will face off at 5:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
