The Moffat Cowboys came tearing into Saturday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Antonito 56-35. Moffat has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 21 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Ziah Pesqueira, who scored 19 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Pesqueira is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Noble Cole was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Antonito still got an impressive performance from Jasiah Jiron, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Jiron is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesus Madril, who scored six points along with five rebounds.
Moffat's win bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Antonito, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moffat will take on Centennial at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Centennial has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Antonito, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Liberty Tree Academy at 5:30 p.m. Liberty Tree Academy has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 4.
