Basketball Game Preview: Central Bears vs. Angeline Academy of Innovation Archers

After both having extra time off, the Central Bears and the Angeline Academy of Innovation Archers will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central has three straight wins, Angeline Academy of Innovation has 11 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Back in December of 2024, Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Crystal River, taking the game 49-37.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Central to victory, but perhaps none more so than Xavior Haegele, who went 6 for 12 on his way to 18 points and seven rebounds. The matchup was Haegele's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marciello Fonseca, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Angeline Academy of Innovation scored the most points they've had this season two weeks ago, but it wasn't enough. They lost to Tarpon Springs at home by a 58-44 margin.

Central now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Angeline Academy of Innovation, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-11.

Everything came up roses for Central against Angeline Academy of Innovation in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 62-25 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Central since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
