Eldorado is 0-6 against Volcano Vista since March of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Hawks at 3:30 p.m. Eldorado has given up an average of 10.5 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Eldorado lost 15-3 to Sandia on Saturday.
Ariana Notah made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Volcano Vista faced Rio Rancho in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Hawks walked away with a 9-5 win over the Rams. The game was the first time the Hawks have beaten the Rams on their field since March 22, 2024.
Audrianna Jim spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Volcano Vista got a massive performance out of Madison Mazuranich, who fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those two home runs gave Mazuranich a new career-high. Breanna Griego was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
Volcano Vista kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 12-3 when they post 11 or more hits.
Volcano Vista's record is now 15-7. As for Eldorado, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eldorado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Volcano Vista struggles in that department as they've averaged .422. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Eldorado might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Volcano Vista in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
