On Friday, Pioneer humbled Salem with a 72-42 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-16.
When it comes to explaining why Salem lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ryan Peters. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. Peters scored a full 33.3% of Salem's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tommy Veresh, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Pioneer and bumps their season record up to 2-0. As for Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pioneer will take on Bedford at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem will be home for the holidays to greet Oxford at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
