The Lincoln Golden Bears will venture away from home to square off against the Jacksonville Golden Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Lincoln proved they can win big on Friday (they won by nine) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over Ohatchee. The Golden Bears haven't had any issues with the Indians recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Cameron Pruitt, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Maddie Smith was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville made easy work of Wellborn on Tuesday and carried off an 11-1 victory.
Dailyn Wood and KeAsiah Williams did most of the damage at the plate: Wood went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one triple, while Williams went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Harper Atchley also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Jacksonville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Lincoln, their record now sits at 22-13-1.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Jacksonville struggles in that department as they've averaged .372. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lincoln came up short against Jacksonville in their previous meeting back in March, falling 14-11. Can the Golden Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
