Suburban One - American recap September 24, 2013
Cheltenham moved up to 281 from 324 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Suburban One - American. The Panthers climbed the ranks as a result of besting Springfield Township 28-26.
Plymouth Whitemarsh was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Colonials defeated Upper Moreland 48-28.
Upper Dublin's dynamic duo of John Derr and Ryan Siwinski proved tough for Wissahickon to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Derr threw for 93 yards and Siwinski had 32 yards receiving.
The Cardinals' dynamic duo of Derr and Siwinski proved to be unstoppable against the Trojans, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Siwinski was the best wideout in the league this week as Upper Dublin beat Wissahickon.
Derr put up the best numbers through the air as Bret Stover's team defeated Jeff Cappa's team.
Brian Afflick was the most successful running back in Suburban One - American this week. He ran for 190 yards on 16 carries as Plymouth Whitemarsh bested the Trojans. Jose Vega also contributed to the rushing game with 180 yards on the ground.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Dan Chang's team's Connor Hanlon and James Rodgers have proven to be a lethal combination. Hanlon has thrown for 503 yards this season, while Rodgers has 18 catches for 345 yards. Jequan Mitchell from Upper Merion Area leads the league in rushing with 571 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Cheltenham takes on the Colonials. Joe Gro's team is in fifth place, while Plymouth Whitemarsh is in fourth place.
