After a string of five wins, the Saginaw Rough Riders's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell to Aledo 45-41. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Saginaw came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Aledo is ranked 308th).
Saginaw's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jason Roseberry, who scored 16 points along with five assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julius Brundage, who scored 14 points.
Saginaw's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-6. As for Aledo, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Brewer the next time they take the court. Saginaw will head out to face Brewer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Aledo will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
