After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glenelg, Howard was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Hammond Golden Bears with a sharp 14-2 win. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Hadley Coleman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Meleah Hannie was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

Howard's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-5-1. As for Hammond, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Coming up, Howard will challenge Glenelg at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Gladiators' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Hammond, they will take on Centennial at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Golden Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
