While DuBois didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They had just enough and edged out the St. Marys Flying Dutch 6-4. The victory was familiar territory for the Beavers, who have now won five matches in a row.
Grady Galiczynski tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
At the plate, Trey Wingard was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Madix Clark, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
DuBois' win bumped their record up to 7-1. As for St. Marys, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 5-4.
We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. DuBois is set to square off against their familiar foe Punxsutawney at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Beavers 3.8, the Chucks 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, St. Marys will face off against rival Bradford at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
