Basic is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Reno a 3-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolves.

Not much got past Lincoln Evans, who gave up just six hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Reno off the board. Evans has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Basic's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Lyndon Lee, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Faith Lutheran faced Bishop Manogue in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Crusaders came out on top against the Miners by a score of 5-2.
Jordan Watkins spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits. He has become a key player for Faith Lutheran: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 15-16 otherwise.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Rouselle Shepard, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Eli Leone, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Faith Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 9-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Basic's record is now 23-7. As for Faith Lutheran, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-16 record this season.
