After flying high against the Whitinsville Christian Crusaders last Friday, the Nipmuc Regional Warriors came back down to earth. Nipmuc Regional took a 62-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Douglas on Thursday. It was the first time this season that Nipmuc Regional let down their fans at home.
Despite the loss, Nipmuc Regional still got an impressive performance from James McKinney, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points McKinney has scored all season. Chase Kelly was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Douglas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Owen Gray out in front who scored 18 points. That's the first time this season that Gray scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Howard, who scored 16 points.
Nipmuc Regional's defeat ended a 12-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-3. As for Douglas, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Nipmuc Regional will take on Hopedale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Douglas on the road again on Tuesday and play against Whitinsville Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
