The Sammamish RedHawks couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They lost to Mercer Island at home by a decisive 57-38 margin on Tuesday. Sammamish has struggled against Mercer Island recently, as their game on Tuesday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Mercer Island got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nickolas Mautone out in front who scored 23 points. Will Mcdonald was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Sammamish's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Mercer Island, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Sammamish will head out on the road to face off against Port Angeles at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mercer Island, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Juanita at 7:15 p.m. on Monday.
