Baseball Recap: Pittston Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Pittston had won five straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 13-0 to make it six. Everything went their way against the Crestwood Comets as they made off with an 11-1 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Silvio Giardina was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Giardina was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Pittston got a great performance from TJ Johnson as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Johnson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Elijah Barr was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Beau Widdick, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Crestwood, they now have a losing record of 5-6. They haven't had much luck with Pittston recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

On Crestwood's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Wagaman, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pittston will host Greater Nanticoke Area at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.58 runs per game on average), something the Patriots will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Crestwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Berwick at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
