Horizon is 1-8 against the SaberCats since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Horizon Hawks will be playing at home against the Fossil Ridge SaberCats at 6:30 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Horizon proved on Tuesday. They came out on top against Northglenn by a score of 51-40. Given Horizon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 71st, while the Norsemen are ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Horizon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Greene led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds. Alex Mccollum was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, even though Fort Collins scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Fossil Ridge still came out on top. Fossil Ridge took their game against the Lambkins 65-55.
Horizon is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. As for Fossil Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 12-5.
Horizon took a serious blow against the SaberCats when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 79-37. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Horizon was down 45-14.
