After losing to the Gallup Bengals the last time they met, the Lovington Wildcats decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Lovington really took it to Gallup for the full four quarters, racking up a 85-53 victory on the road.
Lovington got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Zadrick Betancourt out in front who scored 20 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists. Betancourt is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Demarcus Thompson jr, who scored 12 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 steals.
Lovington's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Gallup, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 0-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lovington will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Artesia at 7:00 p.m. on December 8th. As for Gallup, they will take on Window Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Window Rock is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
