Middletown has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Appoquinimink Jaguars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Middletown has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Tri-State Christian scored an imposing 59 points on Thursday, Middletown still came out on top. Middletown walked away with a 66-59 win over Tri-State Christian. Given Middletown's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked third in Delaware, while Tri-State Christian is ranked 86th in Maryland), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Appoquinimink pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 68-61 to St. Georges Tech. Appoquinimink's defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Middletown's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.9 points per game. As for Appoquinimink, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
Middletown strolled past Appoquinimink when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a score of 61-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Middletown since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
