The Largo Packers will challenge the Countryside Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Largo has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Largo took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They had just enough and edged out Clearwater 3-2.
Brady Ahlers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024.

At the plate, Largo's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyson Davis, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base. Davis is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played.
Meanwhile, Countryside beat Boca Ciega 7-2 on Monday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Braeden Callahan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.
In other pitching news, Jake Riba looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Luke Neubauer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Jaxson Contrino was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases.
Countryside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Largo pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Countryside, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.
Everything went Largo's way against Countryside in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Largo made off with an 8-2 victory. Will Largo repeat their success, or does Countryside has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
