The Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour Storm are taking a road trip to face off against the Bolivar-Richburg Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Bolivar-Richburg likes a good challenge.
On Wednesday, Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour got the win against Dryden by a conclusive 15-2. The win continues a trend for the Storm in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Paige Ells and Keira Ells made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Ells struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). Meanwhile, Keira pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Paige has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. At bat, Ells got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI, while Keira got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lauren Signor, who went 4-for-5 with five stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia King, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .590. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .545 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Bolivar-Richburg fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Cuba-Rushford on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 4-3. The Wolverines' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Kylee Whiting spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up 14 Ks.
At the plate, Bolivar-Richburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jayna Thomas, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that Thomas has hit this season.
Watkins Glen/Odessa-Montour's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Bolivar-Richburg, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
