The Effie Kokrine Charter Warriors will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Minto Lakers at 5:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Effie Kokrine Charter's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Tuesday after their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They had to suffer through a rough 60-14 loss at the hands of Nenana.
Meanwhile, Minto was the victim of a tough 45-24 defeat at the hands of Susitna Valley last Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Minto has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Minto saw an underclassman step up: Jena Smith scored 14 points.
Effie Kokrine Charter's defeat was their third straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-1. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Minto, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.
Effie Kokrine Charter came up short against Minto in their previous matchup back in February of 2017, falling 41-33. Can Effie Kokrine Charter avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
