Hatton is 0-4 against Sulligent since September of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Hatton Hornets will head out on the road to face off against the Sulligent Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. Hatton is looking to tack on another W to their five-game streak on the road.
After soaring to 36 points the game before, Hatton were a bit more limited in their matchup last Thursday. They were outmatched by Geraldine at home and fell 63-6. While losing is never fun, Hatton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 261st, while Geraldine is ranked 99th).
Despite a strong season so far, Sulligent has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They took a 38-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colbert County. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Aj Lowe, who rushed for 89 yards and three touchdowns. Lowe is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last seven games he's played. Haigen Gann was another key contributor, picking up 97 receiving yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Hatton to 7-3 and Sulligent to 8-2.
Things could have been worse for Hatton, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 45-26 loss to Sulligent when the teams last played back in October of 2017. Thankfully for Hatton, Cj Mclemore (who rushed for 254 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 14.9 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
