Softball Recap: Canyon Hills Wins Going Away Against Madison

Canyon Hills got themselves on the board against Madison on Thursday, but Madison never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Warhawks. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 15-0 back in April.

Avery Maddox and Hal'E Martin did most of the damage at the plate: Maddox went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run, while Martin got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Those two doubles gave Maddox a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karalyne Tabada, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Canyon Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Madison only posted an OBP of .062.

Canyon Hills is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Madison, they dropped their record down to 3-16 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Canyon Hills will square off against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rattlers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Chieftains have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Madison, they will challenge Scripps Ranch at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games the Falcons have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
