It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Bishop Verot Vikings had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They breezed by Mulberry at home to the tune of 47-6. Considering Bishop Verot has won nine contests by more than 26 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Deshon Jenkins jr went supernova for Bishop Verot, rushing for 257 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 14.3 yards per carry. Jenkins jr is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played. Carter Smith was another key contributor, rushing for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Despite the loss, Mulberry still got an impressive performance from Timothy Jones, who rushed for 71 yards and a touchdown. Jones really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Bishop Verot's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 34.09 points. As for Mulberry, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.
Bishop Verot's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Estero at 7:00 p.m. on November 17th. Estero will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 193rd, while Bishop Verot is ranked 21st). Mulberry does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
