If the Salpointe Catholic Lancers were feeling good off their 56-16 takedown of the Pueblo Warriors last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Salpointe Catholic fell to Cienega 52-48. It was the first time this season that Salpointe Catholic let down their fans at home.
Salpointe Catholic's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Logan Martinez, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Smith, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Salpointe Catholic's loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Cienega, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 14-7.
Salpointe Catholic will be playing at home against Flowing Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Flowing Wells has now lost 17 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 22. Cienega will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Nogales at 7:00 p.m. on January 22nd. Nogales is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
