The West Marion Trojans can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They slipped by East Marion 60-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why East Marion lost, one person who can't be blamed is Donny Anderson. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Anderson scored a full 37.3% of East Marion's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Rawls, who scored 10 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
West Marion's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 2-4. As for East Marion, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-5 record last season and are now at 1-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Marion will take on Richton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Richton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than West Marion in Mississippi (Richton is ranked 90th, while West Marion is ranked 228th).
