Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boonsboro). They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Catoctin Cougars on Thursday, sneaking past 13-11. The win was some much needed relief for the Warriors as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Landon Boyer looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carson Rhodes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Debaugh, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Boonsboro's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Catoctin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
