The Johnson Atomsmashers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They strolled past Beach with points to spare, taking the game 72-57. The win was a breath of fresh air for Johnson as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Beach's loss came despite strong showings from Mariah Reid and Aziyria Phillips. Reid scored 32 points along with five assists and four steals, while Phillips scored 19 points along with three steals. Reid scored a full 56.1% of Beach's points, the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The victory got Johnson back to even at 6-6. As for Beach, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Johnson will take on Liberty County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Beach won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Peach County at 4:00 p.m. on January 6th. Peach County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
