Providence Prep's loss came despite strong showings from Lilly Hodge and Daphne Patrick. Hodge scored seven points along with eight steals and seven rebounds, while Patrick scored seven points along with six rebounds and two steals. Hodge has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played.
Grace Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Reagan Johnson out in front who scored five points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Johnson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played. Kara Martin was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Providence Prep has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season. As for Grace Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Providence Prep will take on Valor Preparatory Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Valor Preparatory Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Grace Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Austin Royals HomeSchool at 6:15 p.m. on January 19th. Austin Royals HomeSchool will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1195th, while Grace Academy is ranked 510th).
